Itinerary

1 Jan 2012 – Day 01: Arrive Delhi. Transfer from International Airport to hotel in Delhi.
Overnight Metropolis Guest House, New Delhi

2 Jan 2012 – Day 02: Full day of sightseeing New Delhi India Gate, Rajpath and Secretariat Buildings, Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum. Old Delhi – Humayun's Tomb, Red Fort & spice market.
Overnight train to Bodhgaya

3 Jan 2012 – Day 03: Agra Take taxi to Agra. Afternoon visit Taj Mahal and Red Fort.

4-9 Jan 2012 – Day 04-09: Day in Bodhgaya Attend Kalachakra and teachings by HH Dalai Lama.

10 Jan 2012 – Depart for Rajgir Leave early morning to visit Rajgir where we take the chairlift to visit the Japanese Stupa, Vultures Peak & Nalanda University and travel onto Patna for our overnight stop.

11 Jan 2012 – Day 11: Kushinagar After breakfast drive to Kushinagar, stopping on the way in Vaishali. Vaishali is where the Buddha ordained 500 nuns. Kushinagar is an important pilgrimage location as that is where Buddha passed away. Visit the ruins of the Makutbandhan Stupa and the statue of the reclining Buddha

12 Jan 2012 – Day 12: Kushinagar –Lumbini Drive to Lumbini. Visit the place where the Buddha gave his last sermon before he reached Perinirvana at Vaishali. Continue on to cross into Nepal, our destination is the birthplace of the Buddha – Lumbini.

13 Jan 2012 – Day 13: Lumbini Sightseeing around Lumbini. Visit the Sacred Garden (the birthplace of Buddha) the Peace Stupa, the Japanese, Thai and Myanmar Temple

14 Jan 2012 – Day 14: Lumbini to Sravasti. After breakfast we cross the border back into India and drive to Sravasti. Sravasti is an important pilgrimage as the Buddha taught for 25 monsoons.

15 Jan 2012 – Day 15: Leave Sravasti for Varanasi. Today we are on the way to our important destination – Sarnath where the Buddha turned the first wheel. Travel to Varanasi. Attend evening puja on the Ganges.

16 Jan – Day 16: Varanasi Morning boat ride on Ganges. After free time to explore this amazing city. There is an amazing array of shops to spend your leisure time in or just spend your days leisurely by the ghats.
Overnight train back to Delhi

17 Jan 2012 – Day 17: Arrive approx 7:45 am in the morning, check into hotel in preparation for your evening international flight.
